Maintenance

Good maintenance of the printing machine is essential to produce good quality work.

The first action of maintenance is that of keeping everything clean: all parts of the machine must be kept clean and free from dust.

Special care must be taken with items such as dichroic mirrors, optical components such as condenser and lenses as they require specialist cleaning and should preferably be done by engineers to avoid damage.

The gate must be kept clean and free from dirt by applying air from a compressed air supply.

Air and liquid filters must be changed as required.

Rollers and sprockets must be cleaned and checked for free-running.

Squeegees on wet printers must be free from dirt and correctly adjusted.

Keeping your working area clean and tidy is the best way to make things easier and to help keeping the machine clean. Whenever possible cans should be kept off the floor. Completed originals, particularly Nitrate films, should be returned to the vaults as soon as possible. Spillage of liquids or oil should be cleaned up immediately.
