Uhler Motion Picture PrintersThis is a leaflet produced by the Uhler Cine Machine Company of 16519 Washburn Avenue, DETROIT 21, Michigan, USA. The leaflet describes a printer that would reduce 16mm to Standard 8mm and enlarge Standard 8mm to 16mm. Louis Steven Uhler had two US Patents: US 1409980A 21 March 1922 for a Motion Picture Camera - the special features of the camera were that it was able to run at 16 frames per sec or 2 frames per second and was also fitted with an automatic mechanism for dissolves. US 171920A 2 July 1929 for a Motion Picture Machine that could be used as a camera or a projector. Boxoffice magazine of the 2 July 1938 mentions that Uhler were discontinuing the manufacture of 35mm sound projectors and the edition of 25 February 1939 says that the dies for Uhler's new projector are being completed and the machine will be on the market in 30 days. The company was described as the Detroit Projector Company. Mentions of Uhler can be found in 'American Cinematographer' Volume 44 1963 page 370 and 'Encyclopaedia of Photography' 1970 page 1128. |
