8mm Film: Super 8.
Super 8, using a much smaller perforation with a standard pitch of 4.234 mm
was originally introduced in 1964 as an improved format for amateur movie, the
smaller perforations, permitting a larger picture area. Super 8 was used in the
camera [like Standard 8]. It was also used as the format for reduction prints
from 16mm or 35mm. Super 8 became the main format for business and promotional
films for showing on desk-top projectors, for in-flight movies and for home
entertainment cartoons, ('clips' of feature films, and 'adult' films) and was
the forerunner of the home video.
